Owner Steve Jones, Ph.D. brings more than 50 years of ecological and environmental expertise to Meanders River Restoration, Inc. With a long career that includes serving as a professor at Clemson University, he has built a deep foundation in stream morphology, wetland ecology, soil science, and landscape modeling. He has directed the assessment, design, and construction of over 127 miles of restored streams across the country, and has presented his research at regional, national, and international conferences. His decades of consulting, teaching, and field leadership give Meanders a strong scientific backbone and a clear vision for sustainable, natural restoration.
President James Jones brings over 25 years of hands-on experience in assessment, design, construction, and monitoring of stream restoration projects across the country. His career spans environmental consulting, engineering quality control, erosion and sediment inspection, and heavy equipment operation—making him one of the rare restoration professionals who has personally performed every stage of natural channel design, from field assessment to final construction. With extensive certifications and direct involvement in over 60 miles of restored stream systems, James leads Meanders with a deep commitment to technical precision, practical implementation, and long-term ecological success.
